It all depends on the extent to which Blizzard can stick the landing.

A lot of players have resisted the possibility of Dragonflight release this year, an unexpected development given the delay in the announcement and even later testing of the public alpha. A few fans have even pleaded Blizzard to hold off on releasing Dragonflight until 2023. knowing they know that WoW isn't able to afford another failure. Day confirmed that the team is taking a new approach to beta testing of Dragonflight, with smaller, less focused tests that will roll out faster than earlier expansions' alpha testing. From the limited time I've played, it's difficult to determine if Dragonflight is likely to be ready to release in less than 6 months. The polish is certainly there however, I did come across one or two bugs that prevented me from casting abilities or completing the quest. This is to be expected The alpha version has just begun, and there's months-worth of alpha and beta testing that is yet to be completed. What I can say about it after my playing time is this: Dragonflight makes me eager to play WoW again, and that's an experience I've not had for a long, length of time.
