The Diablo franchise is in a strange place. On the one hand, Diablo 4 is the lowest-rated game in Metacritic history going by Diablo 4 Gold user scores, with the majority of fans protesting against microtransactions and over-the-top advertising. However the majority of fans were impressed by the game's presentation at Diablo 4 at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase this weekend, and are praising for the introduction to the Necromancer class as well as the gameplay that was on display. There is a lot of people who are worried over Diablo 4 after Diablo 4 and fear that the brand new main series game may be plagued by similar issues with monetization.

In an effort to remove the mystery, Diablo franchise General Manager Rod Fergusson took to Twitter. Fergusson, who presented the brand-new Diablo 4 trailers at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase and clarified that the game will be to be an "full price game" built with core gamers in mind. Fergusson stated that Blizzard plans to support Diablo 4 with new content "for several years" following the launch along with providing examples of what this post-launch content might be.

As explained by Fergusson, Diablo 4 will offer "optional cosmetic pieces," that's the way in which the game will integrate microtransactions. Furthermore, Diablo 4 will also sell "full story driven expansions," that would be as previous games from the Diablo series. The first Diablo was the one to receive The Hellfire expansion, while Diablo 2 received the Lord of Destruction expansion. Diablo 3 got two expansions upon its release: Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer.

It's not uncommon to see Diablo expansions to add new classes to the mix This is why it's interesting to examine what happens if Diablo 4 does so with its post-launch support. It's possible that the new classes will be linked to expansions like they've been before, but there's a chance that they'll be included with no cost updates, similar to the way Blizzard releases new Overwatch heroes free of charge. Details like this will only be disclosed as we near the release date for Diablo 4. which is scheduled to be some point in the first part of 2023.

While Fergusson's tweet was meant to soothe Diablo fans who are worried about Diablo 4 following the aftermath of the Diablo 4 controversy but there are also those who are doubtful. Many are concerned about the cheap Diablo IV Gold possibility that Diablo 4 will have pay to win features like Diablo 4 has, or will otherwise try to deceive players through predatory commercialization. It's too early to tell however, based on what's been released so far, it appears Diablo 4 may avoid making the same mistakes that Diablo 4.
